The Euro 2024 group stage has concluded, and a study has revealed which groups offered the most and least excitement for fans. As England prepares for their round-of-16 match against Slovakia, they may be hoping for more goals, having scored only two in the group stage.
England was indeed part of the least thrilling group at the tournament, with a mere seven goals scored between them, Denmark, Slovenia, and Serbia. Serbia managed only one goal, while the other three teams each scored twice.
Group E, featuring Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine, was the second-lowest scoring group with 11 goals. Romania found the net the most in this group with four goals.
Group A and Group F witnessed the highest number of goals scored, with 17 each.
Moving up the list, Group B saw 14 goals scored, with Albania, Croatia, and Italy netting three times each and Spain scoring five. Group D, featuring France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Austria, was the third-highest scoring group with 15 goals.
Austria, led by Ralf Rangnick, has been one of the tournament’s surprise packages, contributing six goals to Group D. Finally, Groups A and F shared the top spot with a remarkable 17 goals scored in each group during the opening matches.
The host nation, Germany, played a significant role in this entertainment, scoring eight goals in their first three games, the most of any team. England will be aiming to improve their goal-scoring form when they face Slovakia in the next round.
