Get ready to return to Tree Hill! The beloved drama series is officially coming back to life as a sequel on Netflix, with original stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton reprising their iconic roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer.

Bush, 42, recently showcased her throwback style from the show, and now she’s set to step back into Brooke’s shoes alongside Burton. Danneel Ackles, who played Rachel Gatina, will executive produce the reboot through her production company, Chaos Machine, alongside her husband Jensen Ackles.

While it’s unclear if other original cast members like Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty will join the sequel, Sophia and Hilarie will also take on executive producer roles. The show is still in its early production stages, and a release date has yet to be confirmed.

The new series will follow best friends Brooke and Peyton as they navigate life as parents to teenagers, tackling issues like love, insecurities, and grief. The original showrunner, Mark Schwahn, is not attached to the reboot, following allegations of sexual harassment and emotional abuse.

Sophia, Hilarie, and Bethany Joy Lenz supported the allegations, and Bush even claimed that Schwahn had hung photos of the female cast members in their underwear in his office.

On Friday, Bush seemingly confirmed the reboot on her Instagram page, sharing a photo with Burton, Ackles, and Bevin Prince, who played Bevin Mirskey. She wrote, “What if you really can go back home? If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents?”

Chad Michael Murray, who played Lucas Scott, has previously expressed interest in a reboot, suggesting it could tackle modern issues like social media, discrimination, and more.
