Travis Kelce shared his surprise at being booed by Dallas Mavericks fans during an NBA playoff game this week.
The Kansas City Chiefs star was joined by teammates Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and Patrick Mahomes, along with Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
As the group sat courtside, the American Airlines Center crowd reacted to their presence on the jumbotron. While Mahomes, a Dallas native, received a warm welcome, Kelce was met with a chorus of boos.
Travis Kelce broke his silence on being booed at the Mavericks-Timberwolves game
On his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Kelce addressed the incident. “I got booed twice. It’s… whatever. I get it, I’m not from Dallas, I’m just an innocent bystander,” he said. “Maybe they just don’t like the Chiefs.”
Jason defended his brother, suggesting that the crowd may have been booing both Kelce and Mahomes. But Travis clarified that the jumbotron had specifically identified him, and he was taken aback by the negative reaction.
“They showed me and I got caught off-guard… And then Pat tapped me, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m on the jumbotron,’ and then I heard all the boos,” Kelce recounted. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m getting booed. Nice, thanks.’ And then they showed Pat and everyone cheered.”
Despite the mixed reception, the group witnessed a thrilling game as the Mavericks pulled off a 116-107 win to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over Minnesota. Mahomes later tweeted his enthusiasm about the atmosphere.

Earlier in the week, Kelce had also attended a Dallas Stars game at the American Airlines Center, where he enjoyed watching the NHL’s Western Conference Finals. Mahomes jokingly told Kelce to “get out of my arena,” highlighting their friendly rivalry.
