Tragedy Strikes the Gridiron: Teen Gridiron Star’s Life Cut Short

Tragedy struck an Alabama high school when a 16-year-old football player, Caden Tellier, passed away following a brain injury sustained during his team’s season opener on Saturday night.

Tellier, the junior quarterback for Morgan Academy, suffered a severe blow to the head during the game against Southern Academy in Selma, Alabama.

He was airlifted to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital, where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

In a heartfelt statement, the Tellier family expressed their devastation, saying, “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family. We will come together and support Jamie, Arsella, and Lyla with our whole hearts.”

The family also extended their gratitude to the schools and individuals who have reached out during this difficult time, adding, “Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy.”

In a statement, Morgan Academy headmaster Bryan Oliver remembered Caden as a “shining light” who “loved the Lord with all his heart” and was a “student, a friend, an athlete, and, most importantly, a Christ follower.”

Oliver confirmed that the school would cancel all athletic activities for the next week, including a football game scheduled for Friday at Wilcox Academy, in light of the tragedy.
