**Tragedy Strikes Gospel Music Community: Three Members of The Nelons Killed in Plane Crash**
The gospel music world is reeling after a devastating plane crash claimed the lives of three members of the renowned quartet, The Nelons. The tragic accident occurred on Friday, July 26, while the group was en route to an event in Alaska.
Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler were among those who lost their lives in the crash, along with assistant Melodi Hodges and Kistler’s husband Nathan. The pilot of the plane and his wife also perished in the accident.
The Nelons’ fourth member, Autumn Nelon Streetman, was not on the aircraft and was notified of the accident upon arriving in Seattle with her husband Jamie. According to a statement from Gaither Music Management, Autumn and Jamie will return home to begin the difficult tasks ahead, surrounded by family and friends.
“Please keep them, the Kistler family, the Haynie family, and the family of Melodi Hodges in your prayers,” the statement read.
In a separate statement, Autumn Nelon Streetman expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support, adding, “We appreciate your continued prayers, love, and support as we navigate the coming days.”
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp extended his condolences, noting that the plane’s pilot, Larry Haynie, had a distinguished career in public service and was remembered for his valued contributions.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the accident, which occurred around 1 p.m. local time north of Gillette, Wyoming. The crash sparked a wildfire, which local fire department units are working to suppress.
The Nelons were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016 and hold 10 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. Their legacy will continue to inspire and uplift the gospel music community.
