Newcastle Set to Offer Anthony Gordon a New Contract Amid Liverpool Interest
Newcastle United is reportedly preparing to offer winger Anthony Gordon a new contract in an effort to ward off interest from Liverpool, according to The Athletic.
Gordon, 23, enjoyed a remarkable season last term, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 35 Premier League appearances. His impressive form earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championship, although he only featured for one minute during the tournament.
Despite being linked with a move to Liverpool, Gordon’s current club is keen to reward him with a new contract. Newcastle is expected to begin negotiations when the player returns from his summer break next week.
The news comes as a boost for Newcastle fans, who have been concerned about the potential departure of their star player. Gordon has been open to the possibility of joining Liverpool, but it seems that Newcastle is determined to keep him at St James’ Park.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has previously insisted that Gordon has not shown any signs of being unsettled by the transfer speculation. “Anthony is an integral part of what we’re doing. He needs a bit of a break. He’s had a really long season and the Euros will have been emotional for him as well. I’m confident he is OK,” said Howe.
The Magpies have already made several signings this summer, including Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy, and Odysseas Vlachodimos. They have also agreed a deal to sign William Osula from Sheffield United.
Newcastle will face newly-promoted Southampton in their opening Premier League fixture on August 17.
