Veteran actress Christina Applegate is currently working on a memoir, sharing insights into her life and career. In a recent episode of her “MeSsy” podcast, Applegate revealed that the book will delve into her early exposure to Saturday Night Live, a show she watched growing up, thanks to her mother, Nancy [Priddy].
The episode, released on July 9, featured Will Ferrell as a guest, commemorating the 20th anniversary of their hit film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. During the conversation, Ferrell hinted at Applegate’s upcoming memoir, to which she confirmed, “I’m writing it right now.”
Applegate’s memoir is expected to include significant mentions of her 83-year-old mother, Priddy, who has had a profound impact on her life and career. Priddy, a renowned television star herself, introduced Applegate to the world of acting at a very young age, bringing her on the set of Days Of Our Lives when she was just three months old. In a 2020 interview with People magazine, Applegate expressed her gratitude and love for her mother, acknowledging that there were times she hadn’t treated her as well as she could have.
In recent years, Applegate has openly discussed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, first revealed to the public in August 2021. Her “MeSsy” podcast has served as a platform to share her journey with the disease, offering a candid look into her experiences.
In 2021, Applegate shared her MS diagnosis publicly, stating, “It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some jerk blocks it.”
Applegate has continued to be transparent about her health struggles, including a June episode of her “MeSsy” podcast, where she shared her battle with depression. “I don’t enjoy living,” she confessed, adding that she only finds solace in lying in bed. Applegate also acknowledged feeling trapped in a deep depression, something she hadn’t experienced in over 20 years.
While clarifying that she wasn’t suicidal, Applegate emphasized the toll her lack of joy in life has taken on her. In a recent post, she shared her desire to make the most of her days, expressing her wish to work with Shirley MacLaine and share drinks with Cher.
