The Lyrical Brilliance League Reigns Over Billboard 200 for a Majestic 12 Weeks Straight, Shattering a Venerable Record

Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift continues to make waves in the music industry, with her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” breaking records and topping charts. The album has spent an impressive 12 consecutive weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart since its release in April, marking a personal best for the 34-year-old superstar.

With this achievement, Swift has surpassed the previous record held by the late Whitney Houston, whose album “Whitney” spent 11 weeks at the top spot upon its debut in 1987. Swift’s impressive run on the charts puts her in rare company, joining the likes of country singer Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” and Stevie Wonder’s iconic “Songs in the Key of Life,” which enjoyed similar success with 19 and 13 weeks at number one, respectively.

The success of “The Tortured Poets Department” is evident in its sales figures as well. For the week ending July 11, the album sold a remarkable 163,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., according to Luminate. This marks a 43% increase in album sales, further solidifying Swift’s dominance in the music industry.

Swift’s latest milestone also puts her at the top among solo artists for total weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing even the late Elvis Presley. Additionally, Swift is now tied with Jay-Z for the most number-one albums, with an impressive 14 albums reaching the pinnacle of the charts.

As Swift continues to perform around the globe, thrilling fans with her captivating live shows, her latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” continues to break records and solidify her place as one of the most successful artists of all time.
