Ten Hag Confronts Red Devils’ Dark Past, Hails Copa Heroes Garnacho and Martinez

Erik ten Hag Reflects on Manchester United’s Challenging Season

In a candid address to his players, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag acknowledged the difficulties the team faced last season, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and crash out of the Champions League.

Despite winning the FA Cup, the season was marked by uncertainty, with Ten Hag’s future at the club uncertain at one point. However, after an end-of-season review, United’s new owners, Ineos, decided to stick with the Dutchman and even extended his contract by a year.

In his speech, Ten Hag acknowledged the team’s struggles, saying, “It was a tough season, but we made it a successful one in the end.” He also praised the team’s FA Cup victory, saying, “I’m sure it was one of the best moments in your life… We want to do it again, but we have to invest as individuals and as a team to go again.”

The manager also took the opportunity to congratulate Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho, who were part of the Argentina team that won the Copa America. He presented them with special awards, highlighting their “winning attitude” and emphasizing the importance of having players with a winning mentality at United.

With the new season just around the corner, Ten Hag will be hoping to build on last season’s successes and improve on the team’s overall performance. United face arch-rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday, and Martinez and Garnacho are expected to play key roles in the game.
