Suri Cruise, the 18-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, was recently spotted enjoying the sunny weather in New York City as she prepares to embark on a new chapter in her life – college.

In just one week, Suri will be moving into the dorms at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she is reportedly considering studying fashion.

On Saturday, Suri looked relaxed as she strolled down the sidewalk with a black tote bag slung over her shoulder, rocking a casual blue tank top and cutoff black sweatpants with a white drawstring.

Her brunette hair was worn down, and she slipped on colorful sneakers to complete her laid-back outfit. Suri, who also ran errands on Friday, appeared makeup-free for her solo outing.

Suri, who graduated from New York’s famous LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts earlier this summer, bears a striking resemblance to her actress mom, with whom she has lived in NYC since 2012.

LaGuardia High School has a long history of producing famous alumni, including Al Pacino, Liza Minnelli, Jennifer Aniston, and Azealia Banks, among many others.

Suri’s father, Tom Cruise, has reportedly been absent from her life in recent years, except financially, but her physical resemblance to him is still evident.

Having graduated high school, Suri will now attend the prestigious college Carnegie Mellon, where she is said to be ‘leaning towards’ studying fashion.

‘She is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent mature young woman,’ an insider recently revealed. ‘She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.’

Suri’s mother, on the other hand, is said to be ‘overwhelmed’ at the prospect of Suri going off to Pittsburgh for college. ‘Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective,’ a source shared.

Katie filed for divorce from Tom in 2012 and was granted primary custody of Suri, while Tom was granted visitation rights.

Ron Miscavige, father of Scientology leader David Miscavige, told that Katie’s misgivings about Scientology – including the effect it could have on Suri – contributed to her decision to leave Tom.

Tom has not been pictured with his daughter in 11 years, and in 2018 it was alleged that he had created distance between himself and Suri.

‘Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to,’ an insider told. ‘He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist.’
