It’s been over two decades since we last saw Tess Coleman, her daughter Anna, and her love interest Jake in the 2003 hit film Freaky Friday. The wait is finally over as all three actors are set to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday.
Now six weeks into filming, the two leading ladies are teasing fans about Jake’s role in the new film, and it’s got everyone talking. “Chad is in it. And boy, oh boy, is Chad in it,” revealed in an interview, before dropping a major bombshell about Jake’s character.
It turns out that Manny Jacinto is playing the role of Anna’s husband in the new film, leaving fans wondering what this means for Jake’s character. The leading ladies remained tight-lipped about the details, but did reveal that Jacinto is “lovely, so funny.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, and Lindsay Lohan, 38, are teasing some big news related to the role Chad Michael Murray will have in Freakier Friday after playing Anna’s love interest in 2003
The changes don’t stop there. The new film also introduces a new cast of characters, including Sophia Hammons, Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. The original cast members are also reprising their roles.
The shoot for the long-awaited sequel is now about six weeks in, meaning they are likely about halfway finished. Enthused to be back working together, Lohan and Curtis marked the first day of filming by sharing a photo of themselves sitting in front of each other’s trailers, and video clips of them striking different poses, all while smiling and laughing.
The plot of the new film follows the Coleman family as they navigate the challenges of blended families. According to the IMDb synopsis, “Years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter… As they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice.”
The behind-the-scenes crew has also seen some changes, with Nisha Ganatra serving as the director and working from a screenplay by Jordan Weiss.
Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the Coleman family, but one thing is for sure – Freakier Friday is shaping up to be just as exciting as its predecessor.
