Jenna Ortega Sets the Record Straight on Johnny Depp Dating Rumors
Jenna Ortega is finally addressing the rumors that she was romantically involved with Johnny Depp. In a recent video interview, the 21-year-old actress laughed off the speculation, calling it “insane.”
When asked about the “craziest rumor” she’s heard about herself, Ortega replied, “Probably that I was in a serious relationship with Johnny Depp and I wanted everybody to leave us alone. It’s so insane to me. I never said anything like that.” She also revealed that Richard E. Grant, her co-star on the set of the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, approached her about the rumor, which she found amusing.
The rumors about Ortega and Depp first surfaced last summer, with celebrity Instagram account DeuxMoi claiming the two were an item. However, Depp’s representative quickly denied the allegations, stating that the 61-year-old actor had never met or spoken to Ortega.
Ortega is currently working on the Beetlejuice sequel, in which she plays Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. The film, directed by Tim Burton, also stars Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara, who reprise their roles from the 1988 cult classic.
Ortega recently shared a hilarious story about working with Michael Keaton on the set of the film, revealing that he scared her with a jump scare while in full costume as Betelgeuse.
“He came up behind me,” Ortega explained. “I was getting a hair and makeup test, and I got a tap on the shoulder and I turned around and it was a jump scare for sure. He was like, ‘Oh hey, I’m Michael,’ and he had molds peeling off his face.”
The young actress called Keaton “the coolest” and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with him.
“Never in my wildest dreams. I just never could have anticipated something like that happening,” she gushed. “Lydia is the coolest character on the planet. Just everything about it, I was terrified.”
