Russell Wilson’s recent performances have deviated from the exceptional standards he set during his nine-year stint with the Seattle Seahawks, where he earned nine Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl championship.
Now, as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson finds himself in a heated quarterback battle with former first-round draft pick Justin Fields, marking his third team in just four years.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently emphasized the gravity of Wilson’s situation, stating that his career is hanging in the balance this season.
“You’re fighting for your career. Act like it, Russell Wilson,” Smith declared.

Throughout his career, Wilson has achieved almost every accolade a quarterback could desire, with the exception of being named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
However, his performance has taken a noticeable dip in recent seasons.
After a decade of excellence in Seattle, Wilson guided the Denver Broncos to a dismal 11-19 record over two seasons before being released and eventually joining the Steelers.
He has failed to surpass 4,000 passing yards since 2020 and hasn’t thrown for more than 30 touchdowns since 2019.
The 35-year-old quarterback, once considered one of the best in the league, is now fighting to maintain his NFL relevance on a one-year deal, while competing with a quarterback in Justin Fields who has a record of just 10-28 as a starter.
To regain his former glory, Wilson must prioritize his health and come prepared to deliver his best performance each week.
That is, if he can secure the starting job by the end of the preseason.
