Atletico Madrid have put forth a proposal to Manchester City, offering Joao Felix on loan as part of a deal to secure the services of Julian Alvarez. The deal would include an option to buy Felix permanently, along with a cash sum.
City have previously shown interest in Felix, dating back to before his loan spell at Chelsea in 2023. Meanwhile, Alvarez, 24, is eager to make the switch to Atletico Madrid, despite City valuing him at £75million plus an additional £10million based on success.

Felix, who scored four goals in 20 games for Chelsea, spent last season on loan at Barcelona, netting ten times in 44 appearances. His future at Atletico remains uncertain, despite featuring for the club in pre-season.

Alvarez previously expressed his desire to feature more prominently for City in ‘important matches’. He stated, “Last season, I was one of the players with the most minutes at City. But… in the end, you don’t like being left out of important matches; you want to contribute.”

Pep Guardiola responded to Alvarez’s comments, saying, “I don’t think about replacing. I knew he said he will think about it. Once he has finished thinking, his agent will call Txiki [Begiristain] and we will see what happens.”
Alvarez later clarified that he is happy at City, stating, “I heard what Guardiola said. I don’t have much to say about it. I never said anything bad. I just said that I was going to think about it like I do every season to make an analysis of what happened last season, a projection of what may come.”
With four years remaining on his current contract at City, Alvarez’s future remains uncertain. Will he opt to stay at City or make the switch to Atletico Madrid? Only time will tell.
