Margate City Mayor Michael Collins has extended an apology to Kylie and Jason Kelce following an unpleasant encounter with an aggressive fan during their date night. The former Philadelphia Eagles center and his wife were harassed by a fan who persistently demanded a picture, disrupting their evening at Steve & Cookie’s By The Bay.
On Wednesday, Mayor Collins appeared on the Mike and Diane Morning Show on 95.1 WAYV to address the incident. He offered a sincere apology to the couple and proposed to make amends by sponsoring a redo of their date night in Margate. “On behalf of the City of Margate, I’d like to formally apologize to Jason and Kylie Kelce for the experience they had in Margate over the holiday weekend,” Collins stated.
The Margate City mayor apologized to Kylie and Jason Kelce after a viral encounter with an intoxicated fan.
He continued, “As a father with young children, I understand the importance of a date night with your spouse. I’d like to offer Jason and Kylie the chance to redo their date night dinner in Margate, on me.” The mayor’s gesture contradicts the fan’s hostile behavior, who was captured on video telling Kylie, “I don’t give a profanity who you are, you’ll never be allowed in this town again.”
In the viral clip, Kylie responded firmly, “I can smell the alcohol on your breath; you’re embarrassing yourself.” Meanwhile, Jason remained in the background, letting his wife handle the situation. Although the short video does not show the conclusion of the exchange, witnesses confirmed that the Kelces proceeded with their plans and enjoyed their dinner at the restaurant.
Despite the unpleasant encounter, Jason shared positive words about their overall experience in New Jersey over the long weekend. “The shore is fun; it was great to be out there,” he said on the New Heights podcast. “It was the first big weekend of the year, so all the businesses are back up and running… it’s like you never left.”
