The Kansas City Chiefs have arrived in Jacksonville, marking the start of their 2024 NFL preseason. Superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were spotted as they made their way into Jaguar Football Stadium, with Kelce sporting a beige silk shirt, black hat, and his new mustache.
Mahomes, meanwhile, wore his signature sunglasses and a red team-logo-emblazoned collared shirt. The Chiefs’ social media account playfully dubbed Kelce “summertime Trav” and Mahomes “Polo Pat” to mark the occasion.
The game comes on the heels of a tumultuous week for Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, whose fans faced threats of terrorism in Austria. Despite the challenges, Swift is set to travel to London’s Wembley stadium for five concerts between August 15 and 20 to close the European leg of her record-setting Eras Tour.

Austrian authorities recently announced a third arrest in connection with the foiled conspiracy to attack three now-canceled Swift concerts. Despite the challenges, disappointed fans charmed Vienna by trading friendship bracelets and singing the pop star’s songs in the streets.
Back in Jacksonville, Kelce and Mahomes are expected to see some action against the Jaguars on Saturday night. Head coach Andy Reid plans to split up playing time against the Jaguars, with the starters playing in the first quarter, the second team in the second quarter, and so on.
Reid’s philosophy on preseason preparation is perhaps in contrast to multiple teams when it comes to preseason games. While some teams prefer to keep their star players on the sidelines, Reid believes that his players need some live action to get in the swing of things.
Mahomes is fine with whatever playing time he receives against the Jaguars, but don’t be surprised if he’s on the sideline after a series or two. In the 2023 preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints, Mahomes played a total of six snaps.

The Chiefs hope to evaluate players either competing for a starting spot or a roster spot. Reid wants to see how the young players compete, especially those who haven’t had a lot of time on the field.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo agreed with Reid, saying he wants to see how the young guys handle the competition. The Chiefs are looking to find out if their players are tough enough to play in the league and do the things they need to do.
