In a social media post, Ray J revealed his mental health struggles and expressed feeling “suicidal” following a dispute at a BET Awards afterparty. The 43-year-old singer shared a lengthy and emotional statement on his Instagram Story, opening up about his inner turmoil.
“I’m truly at my breaking point. My goal has always been to provide for my family and achieve generational wealth. Yet, money can be a source of evil, and people can be cruel. I can’t bear it any longer!” he confessed. Ray J went on to describe the recent events as “mind-blowing” and admitted they were pushing him towards suicidal thoughts.
The post followed a physical altercation between Ray J and Zeus Network CEO Lemuel Plummer outside of rapper GloRilla’s BET Awards afterparty. Video footage of the incident showed an intense exchange between the two men before Ray J attempted to throw a punch at Plummer. Security quickly intervened and diffused the situation.
Ray J’s social media post also included an apology to his sister, Brandy, and a promise to “make things right.” He alluded to being paid to keep quiet about certain matters and expressed his desire to break free from those constraints, regardless of the consequences. “I won’t accept their dirty money anymore. I’ll be free of it all, and the world can witness what’s truly real for me,” he asserted.

The Love & Hip Hop star also mentioned feeling “locked out” of the BET Awards and suggested that there were people he wasn’t meant to encounter. He concluded his post by alluding to a previous attempt to take his life and shared his plans to leave the country.
This incident comes amidst Ray J’s divorce from Princess Love, with whom he shares two children. In April, he responded to her divorce filing by requesting joint legal and physical custody of their kids.
