Scottie Scheffler has once again proven his prowess on the green, claiming his sixth PGA Tour win and etching his name into the history books.

The 28-year-old champion celebrated this momentous occasion with his newborn son, Bennett, cradling him in his arms on the 18th green. This victory, secured at the 2024 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, on June 23, was witnessed by his proud wife, Meredith Scudder, and his parents.

Scheffler’s triumph is a significant milestone, as he becomes the first golfer since the legendary Arnold Palmer in 1962 to attain six PGA Tour wins before the month of July. It’s a testament to his skill and dedication to the sport.

In a post-win press conference, Scheffler reflected on the “great finish,” expressing his excitement about competing and the challenging yet friendly rivalry with fellow golfer Tom Kim.

Scottie Scheffler and his wife, Meredith Scheffler, have navigated the highs and lows of his golf career together. Their journey began as teenagers at Highland Park High School in Texas, leading to their wedding vows in December 2020. A memorable moment was when Meredith caddied for Scottie during the Par 3 Contest ahead of the 86th Masters Tournament in April 2022.

This recent victory adds to Scheffler’s impressive streak, following his win at The Memorial Tournament earlier in June, which also marked his first PGA Tour win since becoming a father. The proud dad celebrated that win with his beloved son and wife by his side.

In a heartwarming moment captured by PGA Tour, Meredith said, “Wanna say hi? That’s your daddy! He’s so proud of you,” as she passed Bennett into Scottie’s arms for a family embrace.

Prior to his recent wins, Scheffler faced a challenging situation at the PGA Championships in Louisville, where he was briefly detained following a misunderstanding with a police officer. The incident, which he attributed to the chaotic atmosphere surrounding a tragic accident, was quickly resolved.

In a statement, Scheffler clarified, “I never intended to disregard any of the [police officers’] instructions.” The incident, though unfortunate, did not detract from his impressive performance on the course.

The road outside the Valhalla Golf Club was temporarily blocked off, leading to a series of events that resulted in Scheffler’s brief detention.

Despite his busy schedule, Scheffler has consistently emphasized the importance of family, especially since becoming a parent. In an interview with USA Today before Bennett’s birth, he shared his excitement about the upcoming birth of his first child and how it would shift his priorities.

“My son or daughter will now be the main priority, along with my wife, so golf will now be probably fourth in line,” he said, highlighting his commitment to his growing family.
