Dramatic news has shaken the world of daytime television: Kelly Monaco, a veteran actress who has played the iconic role of Sam McCall on ABC’s General Hospital since 2003, has been released from her contract and will be leaving the show this fall.

According to reports, Monaco was caught off guard by the sudden decision, and it appears that her character will meet a tragic end.

The talented actress has been an integral part of the General Hospital family for over two decades, earning two Daytime Emmy nominations for her outstanding performances.

Before joining General Hospital, Monaco played the role of Livvie Locke on Port Charles, a spinoff of the series, from 2000 to 2003.

In addition to her work on General Hospital, Monaco has also made a name for herself on the dance floor, winning the first season of Dancing With the Stars in 2005 and returning for the All-Stars edition in 2012.

Monaco recently reunited with her Dancing With the Stars partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, for General Hospital’s 60th anniversary primetime special, which aired in January.

As news of her departure spreads, fans are left wondering what the future holds for Monaco and her beloved character, Sam McCall.
