Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make a rare joint appearance on television this Sunday, as they discuss their efforts to combat online bullying and promote digital safety for children. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will share their thoughts on the importance of protecting kids from online harm in an interview with Jane Pauley on CBS Sunday Morning.
The couple’s Archewell Foundation is launching an initiative called The Parents Network, which aims to support parents whose children have been affected by online bullying. This comes after they revealed last year that they had been in quiet talks with tech giants to explore ways to protect kids on social media.
As parents to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, Harry and Meghan are passionate about creating a safer online environment for children. “All you want to do as parents is protect them,” Meghan said in the interview. “And so, as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there, and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.”
In the interview, Pauley also spoke with parents who participated in The Parents Network pilot program, who shared how it has helped them heal after losing children to suicide.
The couple’s visit to Colombia will also focus on promoting online safety for kids, according to Vice President Francia Márquez. “Their visit comes at a particularly significant time, as it precedes the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, to be held in Colombia this November,” she said.
This will be Harry and Meghan’s first joint interview since they sat down with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where they made explosive claims about the British monarchy and senior members of the royal family.
