**Chaos Erupts: Rosenborg and Lillestrom’s Match Abandoned Due to Anti-VAR Protests**
A Norwegian football match between Rosenborg and Lillestrom was brought to a halt on Sunday after fans from both teams staged a series of protests against the use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR).
The game was delayed four times in the first 30 minutes as supporters threw tennis balls, flares, and even fishcakes onto the pitch, forcing the players to leave the field multiple times. The stadium announcer warned that any further disruptions would result in the game being abandoned.
Rosenborg’s ultras group led the charge, hurling tennis balls onto the pitch and displaying a banner that read, “We will never give up, VAR will go away.” Lillestrom fans soon followed suit, throwing more tennis balls and holding up the same banner.
As the protests continued, the chants of “Hate, hate, f***ing hate VAR” echoed throughout the stadium from both sets of fans. The situation eventually became too much, and the referee was forced to abandon the match.
