The San Francisco 49ers made a shrewd move when they selected Brock Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it’s safe to say it paid off handsomely.
Initially, Purdy was fighting for a roster spot during training camp, but a series of injuries catapulted him into a starting role.
From relative obscurity to overnight sensation, Purdy led the 49ers to a playoff berth, silencing his doubters in the process.
In his first full season as the starter, Purdy continued to defy expectations, guiding the team to a Super Bowl appearance.
As the 2024 NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on Purdy to see if he can maintain his exceptional form.
New York Jets running back Breece Hall, who played alongside Purdy at Iowa State, shared his insights on the quarterback’s college days via The Pivot.
“Brock always had the potential to make big plays in college,” Hall explained. “He had an innate ability to do a lot of things. We had some significant wins, and I always knew he had the potential to be a great player. But what he’s doing now is a complete surprise. He always said, ‘As long as I have the right pieces around me, I’ll be successful.’ Hearing him say that and now seeing him with the pieces he needed, he’s thriving.”

Hall’s praise for Purdy is effusive, and it’s clear he had faith in his former teammate’s ability to succeed if given the opportunity.
Now, both Iowa State alumni are making a name for themselves in the NFL.
