In a lighthearted moment, Drake Maye, the New England Patriots’ newly drafted quarterback, showcased his powerful arm during a friendly volleyball game with children. Maye, selected third overall in this year’s NFL draft, is anticipated to make his professional debut for the Patriots in the upcoming season.
However, in a humorous turn of events, the New England quarterback unintentionally displayed his throwing prowess on Tuesday while engaging in a volleyball match with kids. In one of the clips, Maye seems to have hit a child with the ball, eliciting an ‘ooh’ from the spectators and leaving the 21-year-old raising his hand in apology, unable to contain his laughter.

Another clip captures Maye taking out his center, David Andrews, from the game with a well-aimed hit. Last month, Maye secured a fully guaranteed rookie contract worth $36.63 million, including a substantial $23.46 million signing bonus. As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the contract spans four years with a fifth-year option.
Maye assumes the quarterback role in New England three years after the team selected Mac Jones 15th overall. Jones experienced a regression following a promising rookie season. The Patriots will kick off their season on September 8 against the Bengals.
