Liverpool have intensified their negotiations to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, a standout performer in Georgia’s Euro 2024 campaign.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper made an impressive 11 saves in a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic, catching the attention of Premier League clubs. Liverpool are keen to add him to their goalkeeping ranks, but he is likely to be sent on loan this season.
According to sources, Liverpool cannot buy and then loan Mamardashvili to another Premier League club due to a breach of rules. As a result, several permutations are being discussed, including a possible loan to Bournemouth. However, Liverpool are hesitant to send him to a rival Premier League club.
Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper, Alisson, remains the top choice for the next two seasons. The Brazilian’s presence means Mamardashvili would have to settle for being the number two goalkeeper, a situation that may not appeal to him.

Liverpool are determined to seize the opportunity to sign a goalkeeper of Mamardashvili’s caliber, even if it means finding a solution for where he plays his football this season. Staying on loan at Valencia is also an option.
Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher’s future remains uncertain as he seeks regular first-team football. QPR remain in talks to sign Liverpool’s Owen Beck on loan, while Red Bull Leipzig are discussing an improved offer for Bobby Clark. Leicester are also interested in winger Ben Doak, who has attracted interest from other Premier League and Championship sides.
Liverpool will continue to explore options for Mamardashvili, but a bid has not been made as of yet. The Reds remain intent on signing the player over the coming weeks and finding a solution that suits all parties involved.
