Former Liverpool Star Banished from First Team and Put Up for Sale by New Club
A former Liverpool midfielder has been exiled from the first team and placed on the transfer list by his new club following a disastrous 2023-24 season.
Despite enjoying a trophy-laden spell at Liverpool, the player’s recent campaign was marred by poor form and controversy.
The player, who was once a key figure at Liverpool, has been told he is no longer needed at his new club and is being actively shopped around to other teams.
The decision comes after a tumultuous campaign that saw him play just 107 minutes of football. The final straw came when he allegedly refused to play after being told he would be benched for a match towards the end of the season.
As a result, his new club suspended him for the final five matches of the campaign and are now eager to “move him on as soon as possible” and cut their losses.

The player in question is Naby Keita, 29, who won the Premier League and Champions League under Jurgen Klopp during his time at Liverpool.
Keita joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen last summer after his contract expired at Liverpool, but his second stint in Germany has been plagued by frustration.
Things came to a head in April when he found out he would only be on the bench to play against Bayer Leverkusen and allegedly refused to board the team bus to the game.
Werder responded by suspending him until the end of the season, banning him from training and the dressing room, and hitting him with a “significant” fine.

Keita has since denied the claims and insisted he won’t accept people “trying to tarnish my image”.
Despite attempts to resolve the conflict over the summer, Werder have now re-banished him and put him up for sale.
“It was a very open conversation in which we came to the joint conclusion that this is the most sensible way forward in the current situation,” said Clement Fritz, the managing director of football.
“On the one hand, we want to focus fully on the rest of the preparation and the start of the season. On the other hand, Naby had also been thinking about it for some time.”
“Since his sporting situation has not changed again, he would like to look for a new challenge. Together with his advisor, we want to make this happen as soon as possible.”
