Manchester United have been presented with the opportunity to sign Manuel Ugarte on loan from PSG, with an obligation to buy. However, the French club’s asking price of £51 million is still too steep for the Red Devils.
United value the Uruguayan midfielder at around £42 million, a significant difference from PSG’s valuation. Ugarte was absent from PSG’s Ligue 1 season opener against Le Havre last Friday, fueling speculation about his future.
As things stand, PSG is open to selling Ugarte but refuses to budge from their £52 million valuation, which is what they paid Sporting to sign him in July last year.
Ugarte featured in 37 games for PSG last season, helping the club win Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. He has also been capped 22 times at senior international level.

The news comes as Napoli expresses interest in Scott McTominay on an initial loan deal, but United will only consider a sale. Ugarte would be a direct reinforcement if the Scot were to leave this summer.
Fulham had a £20 million bid rejected earlier this month. They have since revived their interest, but are set to sign Burnley’s Sander Berge for £25 million instead.

McTominay has just one year remaining on his contract with United, although the club has the option to extend it for a further 12 months.
The 27-year-old is a product of United’s academy and has made over 250 appearances for the club since making his debut in April 2017.
