Red Devils Can Tap Into Ten Hag’s Victory Vibe Against City Rivals

Manchester United have enjoyed a successful period under Erik ten Hag, winning both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Jonny Evans believes that the team can benefit from adopting the same mentality as the Dutchman, who has a proven track record of winning trophies.

Last season, Manchester United endured a turbulent campaign, finishing eighth in the Premier League table, their worst ever position. However, they secured silverware by winning the FA Cup, beating Manchester City in the final at Wembley. This marked Ten Hag’s second trophy as United manager, having also won the Carabao Cup in his first season at the club.

Evans, who signed a one-year extension earlier this summer, remains hungry to add to his medal collection. He believes that winning trophies can only benefit the team in terms of giving confidence to go on and win more. “The manager has been able to do that [win trophies] since he came here, he’s got a great record in the cup competitions and he speaks highly about the fact that he is a winner. We need that,” Evans said.

Evans also emphasized the importance of having winners in the squad, citing the example of players like Licha and Garnacho who have won trophies with their countries. “Winning trophies can only benefit you in terms of giving confidence to go on and win more,” he added.

Last season’s FA Cup triumph was Evans’ seventh major honor with United, having returned to the club last summer after eight years away. He remains eager to add to his medal collection, saying, “I think the whole thing of coming back and winning a trophy with the club was incredible. I’ve been lucky but you always remember the last one, don’t you? I think it will stick in the memory for a long time and, hopefully, we can get another one this year and then that’s the last one to think about.”

Evans is looking forward to the new season, with United competing in the Europa League, as well as the cup competitions and the league. “We’ve already had meetings and you see what trophies are up for grabs this year. We’ve got the Europa League to contend with as well, obviously, and we’re in all of them to win it,” he said.

With the Community Shield clash against Manchester City approaching, Evans is confident that United can benefit from adopting Ten Hag’s winning habit. “There’s another chance in the Europa League, we’re back in the cup competitions and in the league, so there’s a lot and we’ll give it a good shot in all of them,” he added.
