Red Alert: United and Rivals Left Reeling as Ticket Frenzy Turns into Digital Disaster

Manchester United and Other Clubs Delay Ticket Sales Due to Global Tech Outage

Manchester United, along with several other football clubs, have been forced to delay ticket sales for their upcoming matches due to a global technical outage. The outage, which affected Microsoft servers worldwide, caused chaos across various industries, including sports, transportation, and finance.

Sky Sports News, a popular sports news channel, crashed on Friday morning, while Sky News was also affected. The outage led to hospitals, train services, banks, and stock exchanges going offline, causing widespread disruptions.

Manchester United, which was planning to start selling tickets for the new Premier League season, had to postpone the sales until Monday. The club’s ticketing website was unavailable, and sales were initially delayed until midday before being rescheduled for 10 am on Monday.

Other clubs, including Brentford, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, and Coventry, were also affected by the outage. Brentford’s ticket sales were delayed, while Crystal Palace’s on-sale for their game against Brentford was postponed until Monday. Middlesbrough and Coventry also experienced technical difficulties with their ticket sales.

The global tech outage led to departure boards shutting down at airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, and Edinburgh. Train passengers were advised to expect delays due to IT issues, and some GP surgeries were forced to close.

The technical fault caused Windows computers to suddenly shut down, leading to widespread disruptions across various industries. The outage is a reminder of the importance of having robust IT systems in place to minimize the impact of such events.
