Liverpool’s Concerns Over Curtis Jones’ Fitness After He Suffers Injury in Pre-Season Win Over Real Betis
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is anxiously waiting for news on midfielder Curtis Jones’ fitness after he was forced out of the team’s pre-season friendly against Real Betis with a muscle problem. The 23-year-old limped off the field just 30 minutes into the 1-0 win at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
Curtis Jones went off with an injury 30 minutes into Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Real Betis
Slot expressed his concerns about the injury, saying, “I think it’s too early to tell [how bad it is]. He maybe could have played on, but I think maybe you could see he was not at 100 per cent. In a friendly game, with so many days coming up in our tour, it was best to take him off. Hopefully, he can recover from it really fast, but we have to wait and see.”
Arne Slot said that he hopes Jones recovers fast after the injury blow in the United States
Jones was replaced by 17-year-old Trey Nyoni, who had a hand in Dominik Szoboszlai’s 34th-minute winner. Slot praised Nyoni’s performance, saying, “The good thing about that was that we brought someone (on) that impressed me in the 45 minutes to an hour he played afterwards. That was the positive thing of Curtis going out for Trey, but of course, for Curtis, it’s a pity that he couldn’t play on.”
He is already missing a number of first-team players who are not back from international duty
The injury comes after Jones expressed his happiness with Slot’s arrival at the club, saying, “Arne is amazing. It is probably the happiest I have been. In terms of a style of play, it suits us and the lads we have. It is a clear plan. He is fully involved in the training, coaches us a lot, he’s big on the finer details.”
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal of the game after he was set up by Mohamed Salah
Liverpool will face Arsenal in Philadelphia on Thursday and Manchester United in Columbia, South Carolina next Sunday. The team will be hoping that Jones can recover quickly from his injury to be available for these upcoming matches.
