A federal judge has ordered Julie Chrisley to appear in person for her resentencing hearing, scheduled for September 25 in Atlanta.
Chrisley, 51, had requested to appear virtually, citing concerns about the physical hardship of traveling from Kentucky, where she is currently being held at FMC Lexington, to Georgia. However, her request was denied by the court.
According to court documents, Chrisley’s legal team had argued that transporting her to Atlanta would require a lengthy and potentially grueling journey, either via a transfer facility in Oklahoma City or a multiple-hour van ride while shackled. Nevertheless, the judge ruled that Chrisley must appear in person.
More than two years after Todd and Julie Chrisley were charged with multiple counts of fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy, their trial began in May 2022. The couple, stars of the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, were found guilty in June 2022, with Todd, 55, receiving a 12-year sentence and Julie, 51, receiving seven years.
While maintaining their innocence, the couple reported to their respective facilities: Julie to FMC Lexington in Kentucky and Todd to the FPC Pensacola minimum-security facility in Florida. Todd’s sentence was reduced to 10 years, while Julie’s was reduced by 14 months.
In a surprising turn of events, an appeals court threw out Julie’s prison sentence in June, ruling that the judge in her 2022 trial miscalculated her sentence.

Following the appeals court’s ruling, Julie’s case was sent back to a lower court for resentencing.
“After careful consideration, and with the benefit of oral argument, we affirm the district court on all issues except for the loss amount attributed to Julie,” the judges stated in their ruling. “The district court did not identify the evidence it relied on to hold Julie accountable for losses incurred before 2007, and we cannot independently find it in the record.”
The Chrisley family remains hopeful that Julie’s resentencing will bring a more favorable outcome.
The Chrisley family has been at the center of several controversies over the years, from legal troubles to feuds and alleged affairs. Despite the drama, they remain a beloved fixture on reality TV.
Todd and Julie’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, also expressed hope for a more positive outcome following her mother’s resentencing.
“Didn’t necessarily go as we hoped,” Savannah, 27, said in a video uploaded to Instagram. “But we do have a little win.”
