Reality TV star Angelina Pivarnick has entered a not guilty plea to charges of assault, resisting arrest, and other counts following an alleged domestic violence incident at her $1.3 million New Jersey home, which she shares with her fiancé Vinny Tortorella.
The 37-year-old Jersey Shore star was arrested on June 2 at 11 pm after a visit from the Freehold Township Police Department. According to a police complaint, Pivarnick ran from officers and tried to lock them out of her home, and an unnamed male victim suffered bodily injury after she allegedly struck and scratched his hands.
Pivarnick was present for a virtual court hearing on July 23, accompanied by her attorney James Leonard, who also represents Real Housewives Of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice. Tortorella briefly appeared in the Zoom hearing on a separate device but left the meeting shortly after.
The judge, Nicole Sonnenblick, entered the hearing around 2:10 pm, and Pivarnick’s lawyer discussed resetting the hearing for an in-person meeting at the end of August. Both the judge and Pivarnick’s attorney agreed that police officers do not need to be present during the upcoming hearing.
According to the police complaint, Pivarnick committed an act of obstructing by purposely running from uniformed officers and trying to lock them out of her home to prevent a domestic violence investigation. She was also charged with criminal mischief for allegedly hitting the victim’s car with her hands, causing less than $500 damage.
The victim reportedly gave officers a statement about the alleged attack on his vehicle and presented them with a video of the incident. Pivarnick was released on summons and ticketed, but was not taken to jail.
Pivarnick’s attorney claimed the incident was a “very minor” one that was “exacerbated” by a bad reaction to prescription drugs. “This is nothing more than a very minor incident that was exacerbated by an adverse reaction to prescribed over-the-counter medication,” he said.
Pivarnick and Tortorella got engaged in 2023, and their proposal was documented in an April 2023 episode of MTV’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. However, in August 2023, Page Six reported that Angelina called the police on Vinny after an alleged altercation at her home. Although she declined to press charges, a “criminal investigatory record” was made in light of the incident.
Pivarnick starred on the MTV hit Jersey Shore and currently stars on the revival Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. She and her costars have been busy shooting the seventh season of the show, which premiered in February 2024 and aired its season finale in May.
