Teddi Mellencamp, 43, took to social media to raise awareness about the importance of skin checks, sharing disturbingly graphic photos of her numerous surgeries to remove melanomas.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who has been open about her skin cancer journey, included glamorous black-and-white photos from her 2023 #GetNaked campaign with the Melanoma Research Center, highlighting her scars from previous surgeries.
However, the post also featured graphic post-surgery photos, which she warned her followers about with a trigger warning. The images showed the aftermath of her recent surgeries, with jagged scars and incisions on her back and shoulders.
Teddi announced that her next surgery is scheduled for August 19th, which will be her 16th surgery to remove melanomas. She expressed gratitude for her fans’ love and support, saying it’s what keeps her going.
“August 19th will be here in no time; in the meantime, I will be loving on my kids, getting to see my dad in concert with a bunch of friends, going to some incredible horse shows, and podcasting with some amazing women. I am blessed,” she wrote.
The post also included a photo of her back after surgery, with a deep incision and drainage tube. Another photo showed her on the operating table, with a massive almond-shaped wound where her skin had been removed to get rid of the cancer.
Teddi’s fans, including her former costar Kyle Richards, shared their love and support in the comments. Some fans also shared their own experiences with melanoma and skin cancer.
Teddi explained that her recent surgery was necessary because the latest patch of skin cancer appeared just outside the area of her previous removal. She expressed gratitude that her doctors found it early.
She has been updating her fans along her skin cancer journey, which included a stint on immunotherapy drugs that was ultimately unsuccessful. Despite her struggles, Teddi remains positive and determined to raise awareness about the importance of skin checks.
“I don’t like going under and my anxiety is popping off, but I have faith all will be ok and that the reason this is happening to me is because I am able to raise awareness,” she wrote.
