Rashida Jones and Ezra Koenig have redefined the concept of love and commitment, proving that a traditional marriage is not the only way to solidify their bond.
The couple, who started dating in 2016, welcomed their son Isaiah two years later, and have been going strong ever since.
In a candid interview with The New Yorker in July 2024, Jones shared her unique perspective on marriage, revealing that she and Koenig don’t feel the need for a legal union to prove their love.
“We’re not married,” Jones stated. “We just kind of call each other [husband and wife]. But we are what we are, in the eyes of God!”
Jones drew inspiration from her parents, Quincy Jones and the late model Peggy Lipton, who only got married when her dad had his first brain aneurysm, and her sister, Kidada Jones, was just six months old. The couple tied the knot in 1974 and divorced in 1989.
“I’m sure we’ll get married at some point, but we basically are,” Jones gushed, emphasizing that their love is already strong and committed.
