The father of Kim Porter, Jake Porter, expressed his disgust upon viewing the hotel surveillance footage that depicted Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Jake, aged 78, conveyed his shock and dismay at Combs’ actions, stating, “It was despicable. I couldn’t believe it. I was in Vietnam, and I wouldn’t do that to my enemy.”
While Jake denied witnessing any physical abuse inflicted by Combs on his daughter Kim during their relationship, he acknowledged that he had observed behaviors that caused him to question the nature of their dynamic. Combs and Kim shared an on-again, off-again romance from 1994 to 2007, during which they welcomed three children: a son named King, now 26, and twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie, aged 17. Sadly, Kim passed away in 2018 at the young age of 47 due to lobar pneumonia.
Living in close proximity to his daughter during her relationship with Combs, Jake shared that the disturbing video involving Ventura has altered his perception of the father of his grandchildren. “I didn’t know he could stoop that low,” he confessed to Rolling Stone. “My heart goes out to Cassie.”
Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, alleging abuse and sexual assault during their on-and-off relationship from 2007 to 2018. However, it wasn’t until six months later that CNN released security footage from 2016, capturing Combs physically assaulting Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. The disturbing video shows Combs knocking Ventura to the ground near the hotel elevators and then kicking her repeatedly before dragging her down the hallway.
Reflecting on his daughter’s relationship with Combs, Jake suggested that jealousy may have played a role in Combs’ behavior. “They both loved each other,” he said. “Kim’s love was legitimate. Puffy’s love, I don’t know what he calls love.” He further emphasized that his primary concern moving forward is the well-being of his grandchildren.
Kim’s untimely death had a profound impact on Combs, as a source revealed to Us Weekly that it “rocked Diddy’s world” and left him forever changed. “It was a massive shock and a turning point,” the insider shared. “All the other women in his life were playthings. Kim was the real deal. It was all downhill from there.”
Following Ventura’s lawsuit, additional victims have come forward with allegations against Combs, including three women who shared their experiences in a Rolling Stone report published in May. Combs’ attorney, Jonathan Davis, responded by stating that his client cannot comment on settled or pending litigation and that they have confidence in the ongoing investigation to distinguish facts from fiction.
