Britney Spears appeared to throw subtle shade at Blake Lively, donning a similar version of the iconic 2002 Versace dress that Lively wore to the premiere of her new movie, It Ends With Us.
The 41-year-old pop sensation posted a video clip of herself wearing the short pink and blue bedazzled dress with side cutouts, set to the tune of The Outfield’s 1986 hit Your Love.
‘UPDATED VERSION OF MY 2002 VERSACE DRESS. I like it way better. Shows my legs !!,’ Spears captioned the post, adding a string of emojis.

Spears wore dainty jewelry and nude pumps with the dress in her post.
However, she later revised the caption, deleting it entirely.
Lively was thrilled to reveal that the rainbow-covered dress was the actual dress Spears modeled at the 2002 Versace fashion show on the red carpet of her premiere.
The Gossip Girl star gushed about having the opportunity to wear the dress, posting a picture of herself in the dress alongside Spears’ 22-year-old photo.
‘Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories,’ Lively wrote.
‘Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work,’ Lively continued.

Some fans believed Lively’s dress choice was a sign that she’s interested in playing Spears in the film adaptation of her memoir.
However, insiders close to Spears clarified that Lively’s dress choice was simply a tribute to the pop icon and not a hint at a potential casting.
Lively’s dress choice was also a nod to the Britney moments in the film, as a cover of her 2003 song Everytime appears on the film’s soundtrack, and she is thanked in the end credits.
