Crystal Palace has turned down a second proposal from Southampton for young winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Southampton had initially asked about a loan with an option, and are now understood to have expressed a willingness to buy the 21-year-old outright. However, Palace sources insist they have yet to receive an official bid.
The Eagles are hesitant to deal with a Premier League rival and would prefer Rak-Sakyi to go out on loan to the Championship. They have taken note of the progress made by Omari Hutchinson, who went on loan from Chelsea to Ipswich, and recognize Rak-Sakyi’s potential to have a similar impact on the division this season.
Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Sunderland are among a raft of clubs to have expressed interest in the England U20 international.

Russell Martin’s Southampton are the latest club to be linked with a move for the young winger
Rak-Sakyi rose to prominence after a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in 2022-23, where he scored 15 goals, contributed eight assists, and was named the supporters’ player of the year.
He was drafted back into Palace’s first team at the start of last season before his progress was checked by a hamstring injury.
Ipswich had also wanted Rak-Sakyi before turning to Hutchinson.
