Katie Ledecky
I’d Never Break the Pool Rule !!!
… But Can’t Vouch for Fellow Swimmers
Katie Ledecky, the Olympic swimming sensation, has made it clear that she adheres to a crucial pool etiquette: never peeing in the pool! In a recent chat with comedian Leslie Jones, Katie emphasized her commitment to this rule, although she couldn’t speak for her fellow swimmers.
When Leslie asked Katie point-blank if she’s ever peed in the pool, the gold medalist was adamant that she doesn’t engage in this practice. As she put it, “I try not to think about this.” It’s no wonder, given that Katie spends most of her day in the pool during training.
Katie’s swimming journey began when she was just 6 years old, joining a summer league that sparked her passion for the sport. As she shared with Leslie, watching the Olympics in Athens had a profound impact on her, making her idolize the competitors as superheroes.
Despite her impressive collection of 8 Olympic gold medals, Katie humbly admitted that she doesn’t view herself as a superhero. Leslie, however, summed it up best: “That’s okay, superheroes never do.”
Katie has already made a splash at the Olympics in Paris, securing a bronze medal in the Women’s 400-meter Freestyle and a gold medal in the Women’s 1,500-meter Freestyle.
With a total of 12 Olympic medals across 4 Summer Games, Katie is tied with Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres, and Natalie Coughlin as the most decorated U.S. female Olympian.
As she gears up for her next events at the Summer Games, including her meet on Thursday, Katie is poised to make history once again. Stay tuned for more updates on this swimming sensation!
