Rob Gronkowski Praises Travis Kelce, Admits Chiefs Star Has Edge Over Him
Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has given his seal of approval to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, admitting that his counterpart has an edge over him in terms of longevity.
During an interview, Gronkowski was asked if he would rank Kelce over himself. He replied, “For longevity, yes. Right now? Yes. He’s still going… I’m not. I’m on the bench.”

Gronkowski, who played 11 NFL seasons with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, acknowledged that Kelce’s consistent performance over the years has given him an edge. Kelce, who was drafted in 2013, is set to enter his 12th year with the Chiefs.
The former Patriots tight end also weighed in on who he would choose between Kelce and San Francisco 49ers’ tight end George Kittle. “I’m going with Kelce,” Gronkowski said. “Because he’s come through more in the Super Bowl than Kittle. So it’s Kelce…”
Gronk and Kelce were both born in the same year in 1989 despite the former retiring in 2021
Interestingly, both Gronkowski and Kelce were born in the same year, 1989, but were drafted three years apart. Despite their on-field rivalry, the two tight ends have been spotted partying together off the field, including a recent incident at a Nashville bar in June.
It’s worth noting that Kelce’s Chiefs have beaten Kittle’s 49ers in two Super Bowls, including the one in Las Vegas in February.
