Tragedy struck New York Jets wide receiver Randall Cobb and his family as they escaped a frightening house fire, allegedly caused by a faulty Tesla charger. Cobb’s wife, Aiyda, took to Instagram to share the harrowing experience, expressing gratitude for their narrow escape.
“We are blessed to be alive,” Aiyda wrote in her Instagram story, recounting the terrifying incident. She explained that the Tesla charger in their garage suddenly caught fire the previous night, rapidly spreading throughout the house.
The family managed to get out safely, but the experience left them shaken. “We fled the house with only the clothes on our backs and no shoes on our feet,” Aiyda added. She also mentioned that she would share more details later but wanted to provide an update in case she missed any appointments or messages.

Details regarding the number of family members present during the fire are unclear. Cobb and Aiyda are parents to three children, including a newborn, Chance Atlas, who was welcomed into the family in March.
Looking back at Cobb’s football career, the previous season saw him underperform in his inaugural year with the Jets. He played in eleven games but managed only five pass receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown.
As Cobb and his family navigate this challenging time, they can find solace in the support of their loved ones and the football community. The upcoming season also presents an opportunity for Cobb to reconnect with his former Green Bay Packers teammate, Aaron Rodgers, and hopefully, a fresh start on and off the field.
