NFL Star Absence Leaves Jets Coach Red-Faced and a Hefty Fine Looming

Pat McAfee and his crew recently ribbed New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh for addressing Aaron Rodgers’ absence from practice and the potential fines that would follow.

During a press conference, Saleh mentioned the absence of Rodgers and Haason Reddick, noting that both players would be subject to fines as per the NFL collective bargaining agreement.

McAfee and his crew found humor in the idea of fining Rodgers, given his veteran status in the league. “It’s fascinating. In Aaron’s 20th year, he didn’t miss a single OTA,” McAfee joked. “And now he opens up the possibility of fines. I wonder if they’ll actually fine Aaron Rodgers.”

Saleh did acknowledge that Rodgers had been in communication and present at the camp, but his absence was due to a significant personal event. McAfee and his crew suggested that Saleh should have refrained from sharing the reason for Rodgers’ absence without providing further details.

“I haven’t spoken to any sources close to the situation with the quarterback of the Jets,” McAfee quipped. “What could this life event be? Saleh heard about it and chose to keep it under wraps.”

Later in the program, AJ Hawk, a friend of Rodgers, joined in and added to the mystery: “I have no clue where he could be. He could be anywhere in the world right now. It could be anything. Just Google ‘exciting events in the next three days.’ He might be there. I truly have no idea.”

Hawk also pointed out that Saleh had confirmed Rodgers communicated his absence in advance. “Saleh knew Rodgers wouldn’t be there when he spoke to the media,” Hawk said. “He could’ve phrased it better, emphasizing their good communication and readiness. The way he contrasted Reddick and Aaron’s absence was a bit odd.”
