NFL fans are speculating about a potential comeback for JJ Watt after the former defensive end shared a post-workout photo showcasing his impressive physique.
Watt, 35, captioned the photo with the word “progress,” leaving fans wondering if he’s considering a return to the league. His chiseled frame certainly suggests he’s still in NFL shape.
JJ Watt’s post-workout photo has fans wondering about a potential NFL comeback.
Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and five-time Pro Bowler, retired in 2022 after a 12-year career split between the Houston Texans and the Arizona Cardinals. He is widely considered one of the best defensive ends in NFL history, with 114.5 career sacks and one of only four players to have three or more seasons with at least 17.5 sacks.
Watt’s impressive NFL career spanned 12 seasons with the Texans and Cardinals.
Since retiring, Watt has pursued careers in business and media, joining CBS Sports’ The NFL Today. However, he has also hinted at the possibility of an NFL return, specifically with the Texans. In May, Watt said, “I told DeMeco [Ryans] last year: I said, ‘Don’t call unless you absolutely need it. But if you ever do call, I’ll be there.’ This is the last year I’ll tell him that, though.”
While Watt doesn’t anticipate a return this season due to the strength of the Texans’ current defensive line, fans are still hopeful. With Watt’s impressive track record and dedication to staying in shape, it’s no surprise that his recent photo has sparked speculation about a potential comeback.
Besides the Texans, Watt has also been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he could team up with his younger brother TJ.
