Tragedy struck when beloved actor Matthew Perry was found lifeless in his bathtub, with traces of ketamine discovered in his stomach. The subsequent autopsy revealed that he had succumbed to the “acute effects of ketamine” and drowning, at the tender age of 54.
Nearly a year later, a shocking five individuals were charged in connection with his untimely demise. Those closest to Matthew, including his live-in personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, doctors Mark Chavez and Salvador Plasencia, and drug dealers Jasveen Sangha and Erik Fleming, were found to have played a role in his downfall.
During a press conference, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada painted a disturbing picture of Matthew’s final days, revealing that the actor had relapsed into addiction in the fall of 2023. Matthew had been open about his struggles with substance abuse, even sharing his story in his memoir.
Estrada lamented, “In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr. Perry than caring for his well-being.” The group had brazenly discussed supplying Matthew with ketamine via text messages, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia callously remarking, “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”
Jasveen Sangha, notorious as “The Ketamine Queen,” was responsible for distributing the ketamine that ultimately led to Matthew’s tragic end.
According to court documents, Jasveen learned of Matthew’s interest in ketamine in September 2023 and obtained the drug from Dr. Mark Chavez to sell to him. Matthew’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was instructed on how to inject Matthew with ketamine and administered his final doses.
Court documents reveal that Kenneth Iwamasa provided a detailed account of Matthew’s final day as part of a plea agreement:
At 8:30 a.m., Matthew requested his first dose.
At 12:30 p.m., Kenneth injected Matthew again while he watched a movie.
At 1:40 p.m., Matthew asked for another dose, saying, “Shoot me up with a big one.” He then asked Kenneth to prepare the hot tub for him.
After injecting Matthew with three doses in six hours, Kenneth left the house to run errands. Upon his return, he discovered Matthew had passed away in the hot tub.
Doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez allegedly supplied approximately 20 vials of ketamine in exchange for around $55,000 between September 2023 and October 23. In the last five days of his life, Kenneth Iwamasa injected Matthew with ketamine a staggering 27 times.
