In a rare moment of disagreement, Emily and Kobe clashed over what to name their third child on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After‘s Tell-All special. Kobe wanted to name the baby “Valery” after his close friend, but Emily wasn’t thrilled about the choice, especially since Valery didn’t seem to have a high opinion of her.
This dispute was a unique instance of discord between the seemingly happiest couple on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. Emily revealed that this was the only thing they’ve ever really fought about in their marriage.
The tension began when Valery stated that he wasn’t as close to Kobe anymore because Kobe was now married to a “white woman.” (Angela Deem took offense to this and made the situation about herself.)
What did Emily and Kobe decide on?
The cast at the Tell-All was shocked to hear about Kobe’s plans to name their child after Valery, and Emily put her foot down, insisting that she would have the final say in the naming process.
“I have to write the name down, and sign the birth certificate,” she emphasized.
“You push that baby out, or pull that baby out, you get to name that baby,” Emily asserted at the time.
In the end, their third child, a boy, was not named “Valery,” but rather “Atem,” a name inspired by Valery’s family.
Kobe wanted to honor his promise to Valery, made 10 years ago, to name a child after him. Since Atem was conceived in Cameroon, Kobe chose a Cameroonian name.
What does Atem mean?
“Atem has a lot of significance,” Kobe explained. “It means fresh air, like the breath you take, in German, and in Egyptian, it’s a gift from God.”
Baby Atem, born on March 15, 2024, joins siblings Koban (5) and Scarlett (2).
With their growing family, Emily and Kobe have finally moved out of Emily’s parents’ house to a nearby home of their own.
Kobe was determined to honor the promise he made to Emily’s dad. In a heartwarming moment, Kobe teared up, expressing his deep gratitude towards Emily’s parents.
