Liverpool Set to Sign Valencia Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in £30m Deal
Liverpool are on the verge of completing their first signing under new manager Arne Slot, with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili undergoing a medical ahead of a £30m move to the Reds.
The 23-year-old Georgia international will become the first signing of the Slot era, but will remain on loan at Valencia for the remainder of the season. The deal is worth around £25m, with an additional £5m in add-ons and a 10% sell-on clause.
Mamardashvili has been impressive for Valencia, making over 100 appearances for the LaLiga side since joining permanently in 2022. He also starred for Georgia at Euro 2024, helping them reach the last-16 stage and memorably beating Portugal 2-0 in the group stage.
Despite Alisson remaining as Liverpool’s No 1 for the coming campaign, the Reds were keen to snap up a keeper of Mamardashvili’s caliber. Caoimhin Kelleher will continue as Alisson’s deputy for the time being, but the permanent signing of the Georgian raises questions about his long-term future at Anfield.
Mamardashvili has started Valencia’s first two games of the season, but Los Ches have suffered defeats to both Barcelona and Celta Vigo.
