Kansas City Chief’s Travis Kelce Explains Why Five Secret Service Members Prevented Him From Accessing the Podium at White House Visit

Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, recently shared a lighthearted anecdote about his recent visit to the White House to celebrate the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl victories.

During the event, President Joe Biden made a speech about the team’s success and the tragic events during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, which resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to 22 others. In a playful moment, Biden invited Kelce to the podium, despite Secret Service agents warning the player that he would be tased if he approached.

Recounting the story on the New Heights show, Kelce said he could feel the tasers aimed at him as he stepped up to the podium. He also shared the humorous exchange he had with the Secret Service, who gave him a strict warning not to approach the podium. Kelce’s brother, Jason, joined in the fun, imagining a scenario where Biden invites people up only to have them tased.

The visit to the White House also included a speech by Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and a lighthearted moment where Biden was handed a Chiefs helmet which he successfully put on. The tradition of inviting championship sports teams to the White House is a long-standing one, and the Chiefs have certainly earned their place there with their recent Super Bowl wins.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the White House if Donald Trump is re-elected, Kelce emphasized that it is always an honor to be recognized by the President and that he would gladly go no matter who’s up there at the helm. He also acknowledged the importance of representing the Chiefs and the Hunt family during such visits.

It’s clear that Kelce has a great sense of humor and a strong sense of team spirit, and his visit to the White House is certainly a memorable one.
