Samantha Cope, the estranged wife of Joey Lawrence, broke her silence on their divorce in an emotional Instagram post on Saturday.

The 37-year-old mother of one officially filed for divorce from the Melissa & Joey star, 48, citing “irreconcilable differences” and listing the date of separation as June 7, 2024. Samantha has been accused of having an affair with actress Melina Alves during their marriage.

In a heartfelt caption, Samantha penned, “An amazing friend of mine recently told me, ‘Don’t be afraid of the tears. Let them flow.'” She added, “Because every tear is God gently squeezing the pain and devastation from your heart to make room for new beautiful feelings to come in.”

Cope shared a variety of clips in the post, including moments with her one-year-old daughter, Dylan Rose, whom she shares with Lawrence. The reel also showed Samantha crying while sitting outside and inside a vehicle with her baby girl.

The video then cut to Samantha flashing a big smile on her face as she twirled around with her daughter in her arms inside a spacious bedroom. In conclusion, Cope could be seen standing next to a horse with a scenic landscape surrounding her, as well as other sweet moments shared with her little one.

A voiceover could be heard saying, “Look at you, look how far you’ve come. You’ve faced your trauma, and you came out on the other side. And I’m sorry to get a little emotional. But there were some times there that I was really worried about you, miss girl. But look at you today. I am so proud of you. You’re a survivor, baby.”

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Samantha had filed for divorce from Joey on August 13. She requested that both she and her estranged husband not receive any spousal support.

Not long after she filed, Lawrence was accused of having an affair with his co-star and fellow actress, Melina Alves. The pair are set to appear in the upcoming film, Socked In For Christmas.

A source recently told People that Joey “love-bombed” Melina, which was something that he also did with Samantha. The insider expressed that Cope had wanted to attend marriage counseling, but Joey “fooled their counselor” and would still “get ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out.”

A few months earlier on June 11, just days after their listed date of separation, Cope shared a cryptic post on Instagram, possibly hinting at the split.

The former couple became engaged in 2021 and said “I do” the following year in 2022 during a ceremony held in California. In January of last year, Joey and Samantha welcomed their daughter, Dylan Rose.

The Blossom actor was also previously married to Michelle Vella from 2002 through 2005. He later tied the knot with Chandie Yawn-Nelson in 2005 but the pair’s divorce was finalized in 2022. They share daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14.
