Jennifer Lopez celebrated the 4th of July in her hometown of New York, adorning herself with her wedding jewelry for the occasion.
“A happy fourth ,” Lopez, 54, greeted her Instagram followers on Thursday, July 4, sharing a series of images of herself amidst a lush lavender field and a rose garden.
The musician, born in the Bronx, exuded summer elegance in a floral button-down shirt and matching khakis, complemented by a straw fedora and brown sandals. She completed her look with gold hoop earrings and her wedding ring from husband Ben Affleck, who was notably absent from the patriotic festivities.
Lopez and Affleck, 51, have been spending periods apart recently, and their wedding rings have not been a consistent feature in their public appearances.
“They are unable to find common ground and have been discussing divorce as a possibility,” a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly in the previous month, following another insider’s confirmation that Affleck had moved out of the couple’s shared Los Angeles residence.
Lopez and Affleck, whose initial engagement occurred in the early 2000s, rekindled their romance in May 2021 after parting ways with their respective partners, Alex Rodriguez and Ana de Armas. The Air director proposed to Lopez for the second time in April 2022, and a few months later, they spontaneously tied the knot in Las Vegas with their children as witnesses. (Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck shares kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.)
The couple reaffirmed their commitment to each other by renewing their vows at Affleck’s Georgia estate in August 2022, a month after their Las Vegas nuptials.
In the lead-up to their second anniversary later this month, speculation circulated about a potential split between Lopez and Affleck, as they had not been seen together publicly for nearly 50 days. However, the pair has since made joint appearances, including at the graduation celebrations of Violet and Samuel.
Lopez was also scheduled to embark on a This Is Me … Now tour this summer, but she ultimately canceled it to “be with her children, family, and close friends.”
“I am utterly heartbroken and devastated about letting you down,” she expressed in her “OnTheJLo” newsletter in May. “Please know that this decision was not made lightly. I promise to make it up to you, and we will all be together again. I love you all so much.”
Ticket holders for the planned live shows have received refunds.
According to a third insider, Lopez is striving to concentrate on the next chapter of her life.
“This period has been incredibly challenging for her, and she is attempting to chart a new course,” the source confided to Us in June.
