Jill Duggar, a reality TV star from TLC’s Counting On, has joined a chorus of Christian influencers speaking out against the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Paris, France.
Jill Duggar’s Thoughts on the Olympics Opening Ceremony
Duggar is among several high-profile Christians who have criticized the ceremony, which they believe mocked Leonardo da Vinci’s depiction of Jesus’s ‘The Last Supper’ and promoted LGBTQI+ values. Many have deemed the production inappropriate for family viewing.
The ceremony, which has been removed from YouTube, sparked outrage among Christians, including the Pope.
The Holy See was saddened by certain scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join the voices raised in recent days to deplore the offense done to many Christians and believers of other religions.
Performers in the ceremony, including drag queens, have defended their artistic vision, attributing the backlash to homophobia.
Interestingly, Duggar’s comments come in a paid advertisement for Krispie Kreme donuts, sparking criticism from some who accuse her of hypocrisy.
You can take the Jill out of the Duggar but not the duggar out of the Jill (bitching about the Olympics

In her post, the 19 Kids and Counting star says:
I do NOT support a lot of the crazy in the Olympics, especially not the insanely disgraceful part of the opening ceremony, but we have enjoyed cheering on the athletes in many sports who have worked so hard to get there!
Fans may recall that Duggar’s husband Derick Dillard made transphobic remarks in 2017-18, which some believe are related to her stance on the Olympics.
Famous Christian Reactions to the Olympics
Candace Cameron Bure, star of Full House, has also spoken out against the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, echoing Duggar’s sentiments that while the ceremony was offensive, the athletes themselves should be supported.
One Redditor summed up the controversy, saying that while many Christians have called for a boycott of the Olympics, it’s refreshing to see some supporting the athletes.
Honestly, most Christians I’ve heard of upset about the Olympics have said to boycott the whole thing and that the athletes should walk out, so to see one supporting the hard working athletes is kinda refreshing
