Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard stars Jasmine Ellis Cooper and Silas Cooper open up about their thoughts on the show’s cancellation after two seasons.
When probed about what the show needed to secure a renewal, Silas exclusively shared with Us Weekly, “A greater number of single guys would have been ideal.”
He went on to say, during a conversation with Us at the New York Urban League’s 58th annual Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner in NYC on June 6th, “I also think showcasing more of our city life would have been great.”
Silas, who tied the knot with Jasmine in June 2022, suggested that the reality series, which revolves around professionals and entrepreneurs vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, could have benefited from showcasing more of the cast’s everyday lives outside of the island.

He expressed, “Spending two weeks in that intense environment, it would have been nice to showcase our regular lives in the city, our jobs, passions, and how we interact daily. I think I would’ve enjoyed seeing that aspect, similar to the original Summer House series.”
Jasmine, on the other hand, expressed her uncertainty about why Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard wasn’t renewed for a third season.
“We’re optimistic that we can achieve a lot this year and make a comeback next year,” she said, referring to the series that debuted in May 2023. “I’m praying and manifesting that we’ll be back next year. It’s just a temporary break.”
Jasmine, who welcomed their first child, a son named Silas “Si” Jr., in February, mentioned that she had hoped to showcase more of their dynamic as new parents in the potential third season.

“I was looking forward to seeing him and the other guys just having a good time and bonding,” she said, to which Silas added, “A ‘parents can still let loose and have fun’ kind of vibe.”
Although their time on Summer’s House: Martha’s Vineyard was shorter than they would have liked, Jasmine shared with Us that she is content with how the second season concluded.
“I do feel like I found my footing by the end of the season. I’m very happy with how it ended,” she said. “A lot needed to be said and addressed as a group, and while I didn’t get all the clarity I wanted, I got enough.”
Jasmine experienced conflict with her former best friend Jordan Emanuel during the second season, which aired in March. Jordan claimed that Jasmine’s personality in the first season seemed “inauthentic,” which contributed to the growing distance between them.
“Last summer, Jasmine didn’t seem like her usual self,” Jordan remarked on the show. “It felt like she was putting on an act of being the perfect wife, dressing immaculately, and portraying an image of perfection rather than being her usual light-hearted, goofy, and carefree self.”

Reflecting on the drama of the second season, Jasmine shared with Us that she wishes she had received more “clarification” from her co-stars.
“Not from any individual in particular. We only had so much time during the reunion,” she said. “One thing I’ve realized is that we only filmed for a brief period, so not everything will be resolved.”
Despite the season 2 tensions, Jordan attended Jasmine’s baby shower in February, and the Coopers plan to visit Martha’s Vineyard again this summer, even without the cameras rolling.

“We’ll be there for our anniversary,” Jasmine confirmed.
“June 26th. I’m definitely still taking her,” Silas added. “No cameras, just the three of us. It’ll be our son’s first visit to the island.”
