Napoli has reportedly intensified its pursuit of two Premier League players, with the Italian club’s director Giovanni Manna arriving in London to hold talks with several top-flight teams.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli has made an official inquiry about Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who is valued by the Red Devils at around £25-30m. United has no intention of loaning out the 27-year-old, whose contract at Old Trafford expires in 11 months.
McTominay has also been linked with Tottenham and Fulham this summer. United is looking to offload either McTominay or Casemiro to make room for a new defensive midfielder, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte a potential target.
Meanwhile, transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Napoli is close to signing Billy Gilmour from Brighton, having already reached an agreement with the 23-year-old midfielder.
Gilmour, who made his breakthrough under Antonio Conte at Chelsea, has impressed at Brighton, making 32 league appearances last season. He is expected to have two years left on his contract.
Napoli is hoping to agree on a deal worth £10m plus £2m in add-ons for Gilmour’s services.
It remains to be seen whether Napoli will be successful in its pursuit of these Premier League talents, but one thing is certain – the Italian club is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for top-flight talent.
